About Alisha L. Jacobsen

Family, Business, Estate Planning, and Probate Lawyer

Bringing Accessibility, Knowledge, and Compassion to Each Client

Justice Balance Scale

For Alisha L. Jacobsen, the law is only one part of the equation. It’s how the law affects her clients that is the basis of her practice. Her passion for helping others, depth of knowledge, and strong communication skills ensure that each of her clients receives personal and professional attention. She is experienced working with a wide variety of cultures and age groups, guiding clients through what are often complex or emotionally charged times in their lives.

Alisha earned her J.D. in 2010 at the University of Maryland School of Law, her M.A.T. from the School for International Training and her B.A. from the University of Iowa. She is licensed to practice law in Maryland and in the District of Columbia.

Alisha represents clients in estate planning and probate administration. Her office is in downtown Rockville, Maryland.

Alisha also represented clients pro bono through the Montgomery County Bar Foundation Pro Bono Program. And she worked as a supervising attorney in Germantown, Maryland.

Prior to practicing law, Alisha taught French (in which she is fluent), English, Latin, and multicultural education to adults and children both in West Africa and the U.S. In her spare time, Alisha enjoys being with friends and family. Her husband, Gérémie Sawadogo, works in Human Resources at the World Bank. They have two adult children; their daughter, who graduated from Brown University, is serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo. Their son graduated from Princeton University and recently returned from working in Chad.
