Frequently Asked Questions

Few things are as daunting as navigating through the complexities of a legal issue. Whether it’s a question about estate planning, child custody or negotiating an agreement for your business, Alisha L. Jacobsen provides clear, concise, and individualized counsel. Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions Alisha receives from clients:

How long will my first meeting be?

That depends on your legal issue, but in general, a first consultation could take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please fill out one of the questionnaires from the web site. You can access them by clicking on the tab “forms” and choosing the form for your legal matter. Also, bring copies of any documents that are related to your legal matter. If the issue is complex, you might also provide a summary or a timeline of events.

Can you tell how long it will take to resolve my issue?

It is difficult to predict how long it will take to resolve an issue because of the facts involved, the parties involved, and the availability of the court’s schedule. If it’s an estate planning matter, the time required depends on the time frame within which you provide the requested information and the time it takes to draft the documents. If it’s a probate matter, it depends on the kind of administration that is held.

What if I decide to work with another attorney, what is the fee for my first consultation?

The fee is based on the time spent at the initial consultation.
